About GoldSeam
Tattoos as meaning and art.
The gold is in the seam.
The idea
GoldSeam is a journal about tattoo culture. We treat tattoos as meaning and art, not just decoration. The psychology behind the ink, the aesthetics of how it sits on a body, the concepts worth carrying for life.
The name comes from kintsugi, the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold so the break becomes the most beautiful part. That is how we think about the marks people choose to keep. The story bent somewhere, and the ink is where the gold goes.
We write for people approaching a tattoo with intention, not impulse, and for the artists who turn that intention into work.
Who it is for
If you are thinking about ink
The journal is yours. Psychology, aesthetics, inspiration, trends, community, and the lighter side of being tattooed. Honest, curious writing to help you choose with confidence.
If you tattoo for a living
The For Artists section brings the same care to the craft. Tools, resources, and writing built around how working artists actually run a practice.
Who we are
We are Monica and Sebastian, a tattoo artist and an entrepreneur, both based in Munich. Between us we have spent years in and around studios, thinking about what a channel built for this craft and its people would actually look like.
GoldSeam started as a conversation between us. It is becoming something we want to build together with the people who read it and the artists who use it.
For how we make and check our work, and how we choose the artists we feature, read our editorial standards.
